The Man Who Fell to Earth

      <releasedate>1976</releasedate>

Rated: R

Plot summary: An alien (David Bowie) comes to Earth to somehow get water for his own dying planet. He loses sight of his goal as alcohol and a love affair with a woman he meets named Mary Lou (Candy Clark) distract him from his mission.

Adapted from the much more direct book by Walter Tevis. Director Nicolas Roeg turned it into an "arty" movie: meaningful stares, cryptic dialogue, unexpected cuts between scenes. Much loved by many Bowie fans for two reasons: lots of Bowie screen time, and (at least in the uncensored version) a very brief scene featuring full Bowie nudity.
