'Imagination Rock': A new genre, perhaps?
From the outset, the "Fear of Music" EP oozes connection to the inner psychic imagination. On the four-odd-minute intro track, "A Strange Kind of Terror", possibly somewhere deeper. Maybe this connection matches the ones made by Muse, but whether this is intentional, only Joe will know. Joe Rose has certainly demonstrated a unique voice, reaching highs and lows many of his contemporaries can only daydream about. A very promising EP from the Mancunian teenagers, and based on the quality of these heavy-rock songs, it seems the good things are only just emerging.
