Biography: Biography
Phil Keaggy started playing guitar when he was ten years old and he hasn't stopped since. Over the last 35 years, Phil has released more than 50 albums and contributed to hundreds, if not thousands, of other artsts' material. He has played bars, high school assemblys, churches, ballrooms, auditoriums, arenas and festivals. At 19, he achieved the gig most musicians dream of--New York's famed Carnegie Hall. He has played with an 11-year old guitar prodigy, a classical guitarist he met in a mall a few hours before and everything in between, including the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. His band Glass Harp has been mentioned in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on two separate occassions and he has been nominated for Grammys and won 7 Dove Awards. He's been named "guitarist of the year" by more than one magazine or organization and many young guitar players have been influenced by his playing.Legend has it Jimi Hendix (or Eric Clapton, depending on where you look) once said Phil was the greatest guitarist in the world. There's no evidence to support the legend itself but there are a multitunde of reasons to support the accuracy of what was said. One thing is certain; Phil's talent is tempered by his humility. It's a good combination more artists should try sometime.
