Biography: Jeff Klein

Scrumptiously sinister singer-songwriter Jeff Klein, was born in Newburge, New York. His musical journey began at 15 in high school, when he and some friends formed the Herb McKinney Project (HMP). When he was 17 he relocated to Boston for a year, to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music, before moving on to New Paltz, where he met up with the other members of HMP.
The band went on to released a CD titled, Made In Place, and were able to branch out all over the Northeast -- compiling a mailing list in the thousands, and having radio play at various college stations, which led to their CD being sold out.
The musical visions between the band members, were vastly different, with Jeff into country and punk tinged-rock, and the others into hippie and jazz styles. The inevitable split came about a year and half down the track.
Jeff went on to establish his solo career, releasing his first self-released CD Put Your Weight On It. The album caught the eye of ASCAP, earning him an endorsement as one of the country's top unsigned artists. His single, Five Good Reasons, appeared on ASCAP's Ear Volume 2 compilation, and the song was aired on several United States television programmes including, Dawson's Creek, Wasteland and Young Americans.
Although Put Your Weight On It brought Jeff a lot of attention, he feels he made it too quickly after the Herb McKinney Project, and didn't give himself space to grow as an artist.
In late 1998, Jeff made his move to Austin, Texas. A few months later, he was featured at ASCAP's Quiet on the Set showcase at South-By-Southwest 1999, and in 2000 he released Everybody Loves To Watch You Fail, a four song EP, showcasing his strong live appeal.
2001 saw Mr. Klein joined the team at India Records, and release his highly acclaimed album, You'll Never Get To Heaven If You Break My Heart -- Thirteen songs of love, hate, murder, loneliness, and desolation. Jeff looks upon this album as his first professional record.
In April 2002, Jeff put out a self-released Limited Edition Demo. Each CD had unique track listing and artwork.
In late 2002, he signed with UK label, One Little Indian Records, which is home to Bjork, Alabama 3, and Kelli Alli. His latest release, Everybody Loves a Winner, received rave reviews, following a sell-out UK tour with label-mate Jesse Malin.
When he is not molding the souls of his devoted followers through his songs, Jeff Klein is designing and maintaining his website.
