Rachael Lampas Self-titled New Album Review
There are songs we listen to that make us want to dance, and there are songs that make us want to cry. Then there are songs that make us not feel so alone. Rachael Lampas self-titled album is a mixture of all three emotions. It is no wonder that album is self-titled; it is a diary of Lampas struggles and growthlessons that I think all people have experienced. In a world where disappointment is waiting for us on every corner, Lampa knows that invitations to self-pity parties are inevitable. Outrageous is the anti-pity party song that will give us the swift kick in the butt that we need. It gives us a reason to dance around the house while making us believe that we are talented enough to do anything we truly believe in. Now, I know everyone knows what it feels like to be on the roller coaster of life. You ever have those times when life could not be better? You wake up to your favorite song, the scale reads that you are five pounds lighter than you thought, and your to-do list consist of lounging around and relaxing. Then, in a blink of an eye, you are in the equivalent of hell on earth. You Never Know is the perfect remedy to those times when just one little thing will send you into tearful frustration. You can take refuge in believing that joy will come in the morningyou never know when things will turn around. The Art is by far one of the most serious subjects covered on the album. Although I myself have never experienced suicide first hand, to relate to the meaning of the song is not so hard. The simplicity of the piano, along with Lampas vocals, gives a gut-wrenching emotional feel to the song, but the lyrics, both inspirational and true, gives peace within the turmoil. The lyrics say it all: I know theres an art to starting over again. And I know that God will never waste the pain. You can only try so hard to right a wrong. This song will only last so long. But there is an art of living on. Giving it 4 out of 5 stars, this is definitely an album you will want to experience for yourself. At least one of the songs will feel like it is a chapter written from your own book of life!
