Less Than Jake

I went to Seattle for a week unwillingly because I knew I was going to miss Less Than Jake in my home town on August 12th. The extended vacation with my family was ok. I was homesick for Less Than Jake and kicked my self for subjecting my self to family relations instead of the show. On the fourteenth of August my family and I were driving down the street in downtown Seattle and my brother pointed out that it said "Less Than Jake" up on the Markee of a club called 'The Show Box'. I was so excited I could hardly breathe. So after much pleading and persuasion I got my dad to pull the car over. Already, a line was forming to the club. I inquired about tickets, but sadly they were all sold out. I walked up and down First Avenue until my shoes wore thin asking people if they were selling tickets. I finally found two tickets. One for me and one for my brother. (I didn't want to go alone.) Inside the bands were great. Yellow Card was surprisingly good. They were your basic pop punk band, but they had an electric violin which added a little spice and changed the whole mood of the band. Sugar Cult was excellent as well, they were a little harder punk which got their hundreds of fans moving. Best of all Sugar Cult ended their set by playing a cover song of the Ramones. Finally Less Than Jake came out. Opening the set with "All My Best Friends Are Metal Heads." As streamers rained down on us we skanked the night away. They literally played all their best songs pleasing everyone in the crowd, and even gave us a taste of their new album coming out called "Anthem". They even mentioned how "tight assed" Salt Lake City (my home town) is. I personally believe this was the best Less Than Jake show that I have ever been to. And I am just grateful that I got to see them in Seattle on such a spur of the moment basis. If you have never been to their show I suggest the next time they play near you, you catch their show. It is practically a spiritual experience.
