Forever Delayed: Manic Street Preachers Greatest Hits
I feel this album has been expected for awhile now, since the release of "Know Your Enemy" in 2001 which saw the Manics seemingly running out of any new material that was up the quality of the likes of The Holy Bible, Generation Terrorists and Everything Must Go.
The album contains almost every single the manics have released, and indeed, singles are usually the best cuts from albums, and for the most part, this is no exception. It has the Manics' trademark 90's anthems such as "If You Tolerate This..." and "Design For Life" and the excellent truly first single "Motorcycle Emptiness". The new tracks, "There By The Grace Of God" and "Door To The River" really do signify that the Manics will be taking it easier from now on.
The running order of tracks has been well thought out, starting with "Design For Life", the most notorious of Manics tracks, and finishing off with the amazing touch of Manic-punk "Motown Junk".
If this had been the Manic Street Preachers Greatest Tracks it would have been the perfect compilation as it could have included greats from the Holy Bible such as "Yes" and "Ifwhiteamerica...", and other quality tracks from "Gold Against The Soul" that weren't released as singles.
In short, this compilation gives a great taste of all the Manics' albums and does well in delivering their most well known tracks to the record-buying public, and the remix CD that comes with the Special Edition version of the album, adds an extra touch of value to product and provides for an hour or so's extra listening.
