Oasis - Live By The Sea
British rock band Oasis have been criticized as being one of the most derivative, unoriginal music acts of the 1990's. In fact, their music is distinctly recognizable, and it is this catchiness which highbrow critics instinctively condemn that has made them one of the most loved bands of the late twentieth century. While their irresistible pop songs have propelled them to incredible fame and wealth, it is the high drama of their personal lives which have made Oasis media darlings. Singer Liam Gallagher's arrogant, malevolent attitude and offensive antics are a thorn in the side of older brother (and Oasis mastermind) Noel. This rock star persona that inspires sibling rivalry also make the band an extremely interesting and unpredictable live act. This can be viewed on LIVE BY THE SEA, an excellent concert video. Performing in 1995 at South England's Southend Cliffs Pavilion, the Gallaghers and their band are in top form, rocking through renditions of hit songs including "Rock N Roll Star," "Live Forever," "Talk Tonight," and "Supersonic."
