Sikth: Genius in a CD player

Diversity in metal can never really be seen. Metal all sounds the same and can tend to get a little dull unless some bands write some good songs, for Sikth this is not the case. Their mathcore riffs and pounding, technical drum-work, as well as some very wide vocal ranges with a large amount of production work done with there first album, makes this the ultimate album to listen to especailly if you are under the influence of some substance or another. Screaming, shouting and sometimes singing, the voclas rip you apart and tell many stories about lust, deceit and even sheep. There are some beautiful slap bass lines and each track leads in to one and other in a very perfect way. The better songs on the album are, easily, "Scent Of The Obscene", "Peep Show", the cover of Nick Cave's "Tupelo", as well as "Such The Fool" and "How May I Help You?", with their insane timings and incessant screams of sexual exploitations. However, do not be mistaken, this album is wild and wonderful in many ways. Let us not forget "Pussyfoot" and "Wait For Something Wild" that really make the album unique. Sikth are a brilliantly technical and clever band and deserve to get a lot out of 2005 after being signed to their new American record label.
