User Reviews:

Utada Hikaru's 4 albums reviewed.

Precious/Cubic U (1996)

Her first album, when she went under name of 'Cubic U'. Songs are all in English. Her voice didn't sound quite like it does now on this album. All songs are in R&B style. A cover on this album as well as 'Close To You' was originally by the Carpenters. Songs as 'Ticket 4 Two' and 'I Don't Love You' are the true 'mysterious' like R&B songs. Songs such as 'Precious Love' and 'Close To You' are the sweeter ballads. If you like R&B, Jpop and Utada, this is a must have.

First Love (1999)

Where her 'true' successes begin. Her voice is deeper and more beautiful on this album. 'Automatic', 'Moving On Without You' and 'B&C' are the more upbeat songs. Of course, beautiful ballads on this album as well; 'First Love' and 'Never Let Go'. R&B is on this album, slow songs, fast songs. Bright and dark.

Distance (2001)

More upbeat, less ballads. Some of the upbeat songs: 'Can You Keep A Secret?', 'Wait and See', 'Distance'. The more 'mysterious' songs: 'Addicted To You', 'In My Room'. The only true ballad on this album is called 'Eternally.

Deep River (2002)

Her latest album. Also, not many ballads on this one. More 'mysterious' and very special songs. 'Deep River' and 'Final Distance' are the real ballads. 'Final Distance' is actually a slower version of 'Distance'. This album carries the absolutely stunning song 'Sakura Drops' and the bright, happy, cheerful song 'Traveling'. Also does this album include the soundtrack of Playstation game 'Kingdom Hearts', called 'Hikari'. The English version of 'Hikari' called 'Simple and Clean' is released on the single 'Colors' (2003).

As far as I know, there's another album called 'Piano Melodies', where all songs are instrumental versions. Only piano used.
