Known throughout the world through her many recordings, Nadina Mackie Jackson is a passionate performer and teacher. A constantly evolving artist, she collaborates with the finest instrumentalists, chamber musicians, composers, conductors and arrangers.

Current projects include a three year project centering on commissioning and recording solo and double concerti with trumpeter Guy Few and the Toronto Chamber Orchestra. The first CD in this series, Bacchanale, will be released in June, 2007. Nadina and Guy will record Romanza, an album of virtuoso nineteenth century music in the summer of 2007 with conductor Nicolas McGegan and the Toronto Chamber Orchestra. The next project in the series is the premiere for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation of a new Double Concerto by Alain Trudel in early 2008 followed by a recording that includes solo concerti Jolivet and Lussier.

As a soloist, Nadina plays in venues ranging from the outdoor Music Garden in Toronto to international recital halls and orchestral stages. She is regularly heard on CBC Radio and at festivals throughout Canada. In June 2007 she will perform Vivaldi’s Concerto No. 26 on the opening night of the International Double Reed Conference and then present the world premiere of Mathieu Lussier’s Double Concerto for Trumpet, Bassoon and Strings with Guy Few at the Grand River Festival. Nadina performs a wide range of repertoire with pianist David Swan and they have made two recordings, Notes from Abroad and Ever After.

Nadina has founded many chamber music groups, including the Caliban Quartet of Bassoonists and Musica Franca. These groups have released five CDs and have received world wide critical acclaim.

Continuing to record and tour with both modern and baroque orchestras, Nadina began her career with the Montreal Symphony, participating in over 50 recordings. She is the principal bassoonist of the Aradia Ensemble and the Toronto Chamber Orchestra.

Since the age of 22, Nadina has taught at major universities and institutions, including McGill, University of Toronto, the Royal Conservatory of Music and the State University of New York.
