- la tour - floating in cool - Five men moved to London at the end of the 20th century to play music and learn a thing or two about life. Four of them were Swedish and one was travelling under Spanish passport. There was also a girl who sang. They rehearsed very loudly in an attic at first and the neighbours got upset and called the authorities. But the band played on. Soon some gigs came up thanks to the guy in the video store who knew some nice venues and everyone had a great time. As time went by, the men grew bigger along with the rising fury of the neighbours and the attic had to be abandoned. The band moved south and peace and tranquility was restored to the neighbourhood. The band called themselves Laurel and after a rather awful performance in Covent Garden they met sound engineer Jon Moon who thought the opposite. He liked the noise they made so much that he came up with the daring idea of recording a seven track live EP. The result was perhaps not overwhelming, but equally important as the bands previous attempts in a studio and propelled the band into further collaborations with producer Jon Moon and Sensible Music Productions (SMP). The band got a new male singer and their music took a turn for more conventional song writing. Jon Moon soon decided to produce the band's debut album. After spending almost two years on and off recording an instrument here and there, the album was finished in early 2005. During this period Laurel had changed their name to la tour and had become good friends with SMP, especially owner Jeff Allen, who happily lends out equipment and supplies the band with rehearsals, as long as they don't touch his drum kit. The process of recording and live performances during the whole period has brought la tour and producer Jon Moon close, resulting in a melodic and dynamic album that echoes of 80's nostalgia but breaths a vast spectrum of pop music and electronic beats.
