An Electronic Music Style Combining Aspects of Drum and Bass, Big Beat and Breakbeats.
An electronic music Genre formulated in the late 90's by groups such as Adam Freeland, Rennie Pilgrem and Freq Nasty and furthered by Hybrid and BT. Nu-Breaks combines elements of two-step breakbeats found in Breakbeat and Drum and Bass with the heavy Synthesizer and Bass lines found in most Progressive electronic music. Its name is derived from the "Nu" style it brings to those genres it hails from; it has a crisp, "broken" (that is to say, not following a 4/4 bass/snare combination) percussive style, and heavy melody-laden hooks.
