Radiohead - "The Bends"
While Radiohead saw its stock rising in 1994, it wasn't until 1995's The Bends that it really became a blue chip band. And for good reason. The quintet honed its talent for bombastic Brit Rock, yet still preserved an edge of unpredictability. Even singles like the title track didn't give in to the kind of swooning guitar clichés usually embraced by commercial radio. If the CD proved anything, it was that Radiohead could find solid ground between pop experimentation and the tradition of born-in-the-bone, balls-out rock.
The Bends
From the moment this CD starts spinning in your player, you can tell that it's different to Pablo Honey, which was, in it's own right, a truly fantastic album.
The quality of song on this album is second to none. With anthems like "Just" and "The Bends" to dark tracks like "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" and "Black Star", this album presents a new and unique variance to high quality rock music.
This album really does deserve all the praise that it gets from fans and critics around the world, and along with it's follower, "OK Computer", it really is an amazing album that is well worth buying, whatever type of guitar music you're into.
The majesty of this album simply cannot and will not be surpassed.
